Pi Day Success!
For the past four years, GW has gone above and beyond the prior year in building up a celebration around one of the Mathematical Holidays – Pi Day. This year was no exception. On 3/14 (Pi Day), a dedicated group of volunteers served over 800 slices of pie to grateful GW students. The students who attended also participated in activities such as creating Pi Art, writing Pi Haikus, telling Pi Jokes, and working on our Pi Chain where every link represented another digit of Pi.
Laurie Hipley was the Pi Day Coordinator and she would like to extend her thanks to the following:
Thank you to the parents who donated and helped serve the pies: Corrine Snyder, Anne Mairs, Amie Valore-Caplan (& Leo) and Renate Roby. Thank you also to Linda Buckley, Debbie Bishop, Stalker Henderson and so many others for donating pies. Thank you to the IB Parent Board for donating money to buy more Pies for the occasion! Thank you to Zane Robertson for reaching out to Village Inn to donate 25 pies (thank you to the Village Inn restaurants at Colorado Blvd & Mexico and at Hampden & Yosemite). Thank you to Starbucks for donating coffee. Thank you Mr. Bolz for being the real organizer of Pi Day! And lastly, thank you to our amazing GW students. You were all so appreciative. As I carried loads to and from my car, there was always a student who stopped and held the door open for me!
