2 GWHS Seniors Recieve Award

Zuri Wright and Malcolm Quattlebaum were selected to receive the Sylvia M. Young Smith merit-based award for a sum of $100,000 over four years to attend a Historically Black College and University of their choice. Zuri Wright plans to attend Grambling State University in Grambling, LA and Malcolm Quattlebaum will be attending Langston University in Langston, OK. Two students – one male and one female –were chosen from Paul Laurence Dunbar Senior High School in Washington, D.C.; East High School in Denver, C.O. and George Washington High School in Denver, C.O. This scholarship is made possible by brothers Robert F. Smith and Allan Smith─ who are graduates of East High School─ in honor of their mother Sylvia M. Young Smith, a graduate of Dunbar Senior High School and former principal of George Washington High School.
