GW SHINES
Congratulations to all. Congratulations to the following students for being recognized at National Merit Semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program: Aaron Bernhardt George Washington had more semifinalists than any other Denver high school. These students were among only 16,000 students selected out of 1.4 million entrants. The following students were recognized as commended students. This means that they scored better than 96 percent of juniors in the nation. Anna Coddington Be sure to congratulate these young scholars! DPS Safety and Health Calendar Art Contest Winners! Congratulations to artists RYAN MORSE (junior), VANESSA LANGNESS (junior), and CECELIA CROSSEN (freshman). Their entries were selected for display in the DPS Safety and Health Calendar published by the Risk Management Department. All three winners are students in Mrs. Cathryn Skoda's art classes. MEREDITH CAMPBELL wins SECOND PLACE in the Second Annual Kids Voting Denver Civics Poster Contest!
First Lady Frances Owens and President of the Denver League of Women Voters, Sandra Shreve, will attend a reception announcing the winners of the contest to be held Friday, October 27, 2006 from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m at the City and County Building Rotunda (2nd Floor) 1437 Bannock Street. MEREDITH'S poster will be on display, and City, DPS and Community Leaders will be on hand to recognize students and their art work. MEREDITH'S teacher at GW is Ms. Suzanne Hewett.
Meredith Campbell also won 1st place in an art contest for Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
