GW Feedback Forum – Views on Academic and Discipline Disparities
Date: Wednesday, October 17, 2018
Time: 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.
Location: GWHS Community RoomPlease join us for the October 17 Feedback Forum, which will focus on academic and discipline disparities at GW. You will hear from Principal Kristin Waters and the professionals leading academics and discipline at GW. Students will share their views and experiences, and Forum attendees will be able to give feedback on the experiences they’ve had in these areas and offer suggestions on opportunities for improvement.

by GWHS0Testing Schedule on Wednesday, October 10
By GWHS in Announcements onOn Wednesday, October 10, GW freshmen, sophomores, and juniors will take exams alongside the rest of their grades. Freshmen and sophomores will take a practice version of the PSAT. Juniors will take the PSAT/NMSQT, which will fulfill one of the entry requirements into the National Merit Scholarship Program, and provide access to other scholarships and college search services.
George will have a shortened “testing day” schedule on October 10. Students must be assembled outside their assigned testing rooms at 7:30am. Students will be dismissed at 11:35am, with grab-and-go bag lunches provided in the cafeteria. If you have a student who receives extended time on the College Board exams, you and your student will be provided with a later dismissal time.
In order to be prepared for testing, all students should bring:
- A valid GWHS student (or government-issued) identification.
- A graphing or scientific calculator, if available. We will supply a calculator if your student does not have one.
You can support your student by:
- Ensuring their prompt arrival.
- Helping them get adequate rest the night before.
- Reminding them of the importance of breakfast prior to the test day.

Senior Sunrise is this Monday, September 24, 6:30am – 7:15am in the North Parking Lot. Seniors should come in their PJ’s and watch the sunrise, set to rise at 6:50am. Light breakfast and coffee will be available.

Seniors – GW’s College Fair is next Tuesday, September 25 from 9:30am – 10:30am in the GW Gym. Have your questions answered by over 50 admissions officials, including representatives from Colorado State, DU, Colorado School of Mines, UNC, CU-Boulder, UCCS, Adams State, Metro State, and many community colleges. Listen for the announcement to be dismissed from class.

P3 Volunteers, the GW Future Center would appreciate your assistance with upcoming College Rep visits at GW. Volunteer time for each visit will be about 1 hour. by GWHSReminder: GW All-School Assembly – September 21
By GWHS in Announcements onReminder: George Washington High School is hosting an all-school assembly this Friday, September 21, and will be operating on an assembly schedule, available HERE. GW faculty and students will be hosting the first half of the assembly by putting on performances to honor and celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. For the second half of the assembly, students will view a presentation about suicide prevention and anti-bullying offered by The Hope and Love Tour and the Denver Broncos. Kolby Koloff, a recording artist and reality TV star, will share stories of her experiences with suicide and bullying, and perform two songs. Former NFL prospect Tevin Lucas will also share his personal story of overcoming poverty, suicide, and career-ending injury.
If you would prefer that your student not attend this assembly, please complete the opt-out form HERE and have them return it to their 2nd period teacher before Friday.
