  • Slam Poetry in the Library with Minor Disturbance

    Come to the GW Library during lunch on Tuesday, October 3, for a live performance by local poetry group Minor Disturbance. They’ll perform some of their own pieces and talk about the work they’re doing mentoring DPS students, including the new poetry club here at George. If you’re interested in slam poetry and spoken word performance, come enjoy some local talent, and learn more about how you can get involved.

  • October 11 Modified Schedule

    9th – 11th Graders:
    On Wednesday, October 11 we will be administering the PSAT to all 11th graders and those 9th and 10th graders who registered for the test. The test will start promptly at 7:30am and should be over by 11:30am, at which point students may go home. For 9th and 10th graders who have NOT registered for the PSAT, there will be NO SCHOOL on this day.

    Seniors: 
    On Wednesday, October 11 all seniors must attend a required college information session from 8:30am – 1:00pm. Seniors will learn more about graduation requirements, ICAP completion, Common App, and college and scholarship applications. Seniors will not be allowed to attend Homecoming if absent from this workshop.

  • P3 Volunteers Needed to Meet Prospective Parents and Guardians

    We need members of the GW Community to speak for our school at upcoming Prospective Parent Coffees and Open Houses! P3 volunteers will connect with prospective parents and guardians during morning coffees to help them learn more about GW, answer their questions, and create a welcoming environment. GW Open Houses will feature a P3 table to welcome, engage, and invite prospective families to consider choosing GW for their students. P3 volunteers will share more about Proud Patriot Parents and ways to become involved. You can sign up to help with upcoming events using the form HERE. We need a diverse group of voices to spread the word about GW; we hope you will consider sharing yours!

  • Picture Day Make-Up

    If you were absent for picture day, you can get your school picture taken next week, on Thursday, October 5. Lifetouch will be in the GW Community Room all day to take make-up pictures. If you’d like to purchase a school picture package, you can pick up an order packet from the Main Office, Attendance Office, or the Athletic Office.

  • Financial Aid Information Presentations and Workshops

    Join us for a financial aid presentation on Thursday, October 5, from 6:00pm – 7:00pm in the GW Library. We’ll cover the various types of financial aid available to you, and the information you’ll need to have with you when you fill out the FAFSA. This presentation is perfect for students and their families who want to learn more about the various ways of paying for college. Seniors are strongly encouraged to attend!

    The GW FAFSA Workshop for seniors and their families will take place a week later, on Thursday, October 12, from 4:30pm – 7:30pm. The October 5 financial aid presentation will help you prepare for the workshop and better understand the process!

    Attention Seniors: Please remember to submit your transcript requests via Naviance. Once you have submitted your college or scholarship application, you must request your transcripts through your Naviance account. Do not submit the request until you have completed your college and scholarship applications. Please see your College & Career Advisor in the Success Center or Ms. Rainey in the Future Center if you have any questions.

    Attention Juniors and Seniors: GW’s College Fair is Tuesday, October 3 from 9:00am – 10:00am in the Gym. Have your questions answered by over 50 admissions officials, including representatives from Colorado State, DU, UNC, CU-Boulder, UCCS, Adams State, Metro State, and many community colleges. Listen for the announcement to be dismissed from class.
