Are you getting ready for the holidays? Do you need a candy cane to cope with finals? Then buy a Holi-gram for your friend, or for yourself, to show your appreciation and holiday spirit. From December 4-11, you can purchase a Holi-gram from Pep Club members in the Pike’s Peak Lobby during lunch and after school until 3:15pm. You can choose by color or holiday, with 4 different choices to choose from. Remember, some sweet candy cures all your school problems, so don’t hesitate to buy a Holi-gram from Pep Club!
With 2017’s Colorado Gives Day approaching on Tuesday, December 5, the Denver Scholarship Foundation invites the George community to donate to the GW Future Center. Donations will go toward DSF scholarships, which support George Washington students as they head to college. GW students have secured over $3 million in scholarships through DSF since 2007, and donations allow the Foundation to help make college possible for new graduating classes.
For last year’s Colorado Gives Day, the GW Future Center received over $1,800 in donations – the most of any DPS Future Center High School! This year, to support the generosity of the GW community, every dollar donated to the Future Center will be matched by the Colorado Opportunity Scholarship Initiative (COSI), and boosted even further by the Community First Foundation and FirstBank $1 Million Incentive Fund. Donation matching starts now and lasts until the end of the day on December 5, and all contributions made within the next week will count toward George’s total on Colorado Gives Day.
If you would like to contribute, click HERE, scroll down, and select George Washington from the list of DPS High Schools. If you have any questions, contact Jasmine Rainey at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you for your support!

Are you an online shopper? Would you like a new way to support George? Amazon has an optional program that automatically sends 5% of the amount of your purchases to a charitable organization of your choice. Consider choosing Patriots Care Inc., the nonprofit that supports many of our wonderful programs at George, including the Patriot Pairs Mentoring Program, the International Baccalaureate Black Organization (IBBO), the International Baccalaureate Latino Association (IBLA), the GW Student Assistance Fund (including the food pantry), and a number of GW sports.
Setting up an automatic donation is easy! Log in to smile.amazon.com. On your first visit, you will be prompted to select a charity from a list of eligible organizations. Patriots Care Inc. is on this list; use the search bar and make sure you select the organization based in Denver, CO. When you make your purchase from smile.amazon.com instead of the usual amazon.com domain, 5% of your purchase will automatically go to the charitable organization you chose when you signed up. If we’re going to shop, let’s have it support valuable programs at our school!
Please join GW BusinessConnect on Monday, December 4 for Student Business Profile Presentations! Students have been working in groups to research local businesses that exemplify various types of businesses, such as retail, wholesale, service, manufacturing, and non-profit. Each group is developing an in-depth business biography that details their selected local business, including information on their business’s background, product/service offerings, successes, and struggles. Your participation in a presentation session will provide students with an amazing opportunity to receive feedback from business professionals. If you would like to attend, please RSVP HERE!
