Violence, death, and romance – audition for the Patriot Players’ Fall production of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare! We will be setting Romeo and Juliet in 1920s Chicago, at the height of Al Capone’s career. Anyone may audition. Actors should prepare a one and half minute monologue from any Shakespearean play. Auditions will be held on the stage after school on Thursday, August 31 and Friday, September 1.
The City and County of Denver is partnering with the Regional Transportation District (RTD) to gain a better understanding of the transportation needs for Denver youth. Through this pilot project, 1,500 Denver high school students, ages 14 – 18, will be provided with a MyRide Smart Card preloaded with bus/rail fare, which can be used for all regular RTD bus rides, Call-n-Ride, SkyRide, and rail services.

The JROTC Armed Drill Team and Unarmed Drill Team (also known as the Honor Platoon) will both have their first meeting today, Wednesday, August 23, in the JROTC Range at 2:45pm. The teams will discuss practice times and upcoming events. These meetings are for both new and returning students.
Picture Day will be this Monday, August 28. Students will be taken to the Auditorium to take their pictures during their math classes. Students will also be receiving their IDs on this day. Please be sure to attend, as picture retakes are not until October 5, 2017, and students will need their IDs to attend various events.
The GW Annual Activity Fair is changing location – come out to the South Courtyard to learn about George’s dozens of clubs on Friday, September 1, 2017, 2:00pm – 3:00pm. GW will be operating on a pep assembly schedule to allow time for the Activity Fair.
GWHS has discounted bus passes for $24.50. Students will need to pick up a form from the Treasurer’s Office to receive the discount. Forms and payment must be turned by the 10th of the month before the month in which the bus pass is needed; for example, forms and payment for October bus passes will need to be turned in by September 10th. There will not be any September discount bus passes available. Payments can be check, cash, or credit card.
The International Baccalaureate Latino Association will be hosting a fundraiser with Chipotle this upcoming Monday, August 28, from 4:00pm – 8:00pm. Please come out and enjoy dinner at Chipotle to support members in IBLA, and don’t forget to mention that you’re there for the fundraiser!

Tattered Cover’s Colorado Teen Book Con is coming up on November 4, and the GW Library is taking students! Registration is free for students between ages 13 and 20, but the Con can only accept a limited number of attendees, so if you want to go, make sure you fill out the registration form HERE as soon as possible to reserve your spot.
