The Patriot Wrestling team is holding pre-season conditioning practices to be ready for the 2017-18 season. Pre-season practices are in the Dance Room on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30pm – 5:00pm and Saturdays from 9:00am – 11:00am. If you are interested in wrestling this season, speak with Coach Ilczuk or Coach Finesilver about the details.
Come to the library after school tomorrow, October 19, from 2:45pm until 4:00pm to take part in a poetry workshop hosted by community poetry group Minor Disturbance. Bring a piece you’ve been working on, or just come listen to work from your peers. Whether you’ve been writing for years, or this is your first time trying your hand at poetry, we’d love for you to join us.
P3’s November 1 session kicks off GW’s Teen Mental and Emotional Health Series for students, parents, guardians, and community members. The series will feature three important topics: From Stress to Success, Signs of Suicide, and Anxiety and Depression.
During Wednesday evening’s From Stress to Success meeting, Dr. Scott Cypers from the CU Johnson Depression Center at Anschutz will address positive ways to manage stress and maintain a healthy perspective in our busy lives. Participants will understand the function and method of stress, learn the essential ways to reduce stress, and gain practical tools to manage stress in daily life.

Are you struggling with stress, in or out of school? Do you need support and coping skills to help handle it? Sara Adams, a GW senior, is working with one of the school social workers to start a stress management group! The group will meet on Tuesdays, and its facilitators are planning to make it a creative outlet, with art and other ways to express yourself. If you’re interested in joining the group, please stop by Room 112G and add your name to the confidential group list.
Homecoming tickets are now on sale! Homecoming is this Saturday, October 21, 2017, 7:00pm – 10:30pm here in George Washington High School’s Gym. Tickets can be purchased from the treasurer before school, during lunch, during an off period, or by 2:30pm until Friday, October 20. No tickets will be sold at the door. Tickets are $25 for Singles and $40 for couples. You must have your ID to purchase tickets and to attend the dance.
