Coach’s Expectations: I expect that athletes to remember that they are students first and athletes second. School is the number one priority. I expect all members of the team to understand and carry themselves in a respectful manner at all times because they are not only representing themselves; they are also a representative of the track program and the George Washington school community. If any athlete fails to meet eligibility requirements for any week or shows up as failing any class per week; will be required to attend tutoring for extra help before returning to practice and competition.

Coach to Student: Coach will send out a group text for cancelled practices, last minute changes and updates.

Coach to Parent: Coach will update George Washington track Maxpreps page

EXPECTED FEES

  • DPS Athletic Fee – $60.00 ($10 for FRL students)
  • Athletes are required to purchased their own personal track spikes. They range anywhere from $20 – $120 depending on where they’re purchased. The cheapest location is Ross (sizes and selections are limited). They can also be purchased at Dicks and online.

PARENT INVOLVEMENT

Parents are always welcomed to get involved and appreciated. Parents should contact Coach Tara at 720-492-8643 if would like to assist with snacks, water or have ideas.

Coach’s Expectations: I expect each and every young lady that participates in girls track and field to try to do their best, whether it is attendance at practice, or the training that they will receive to get them in the best physical condition possible, or complying the rules and regulations of athletic participation. Each young lady needs to realize that they are part of a team and that represents their school and to act in a manner that will only put the school, the program and the coaches in the best possible light.

PRACTICES

M/T/W/F
4:00pm – 6:00pm

There will be no formal practice on Thursday, I will however meet with the relay teams and/or speciality event athletes at my discretion.

Location: We will always start in the basement hallway and depending on weather, either practice in the utility hallway, the main basement hallway or on the track.

Coach to Student:

  • A group text with the Athletic Director included.
  • An announcement on the schools public address system.
  • Information disseminated through the Athletics office.
  • Information that will presented at the start of every practice.

Coach to Parent: Parents can contact me through email at cdugue2001@aol.com. I will always be open to parents who wish to communicate with me. At the start of practice I will tell every athlete in attendance what the activities for the week are, the bus schedule and when they are excused from class. I will also hand out the season’s track meet schedule with the name of the track meet, the venue where the event is to take place, the name of the school associated with the track meet and the city in which it takes place.

EXPECTED FEES

  • DPS Athletic Fee – $60.00 ($10 for FRL students)
  • There will be a fee to attend the post season banquet.
  • Athletes are responsible to procure all of their practice attire. They are also responsible for purchasing track and field event specific shoes.
