CareerConnect students had the great honor of representing George Washington High School and DPS at the Career Wise Colorado Youth Apprenticeship Launch on Wednesday, September 14th. During the event, Governor Hickenlooper and US Secretary of Labor Thomas Perez announced grants to the state in excess of $9 million dollars to grow and develop apprenticeship opportunities for Colorado students. Secretary Perez echoed that zip code should not be a determinant of success and that every student should have the opportunity to learn real work skills to gain access to the middle class. This announcement will have a direct impact on George CareerConnect students who might be interested in participating in CareerResidency, which will allow for Business and MedConnect students to work in industry 3 days a week and come to school 2 days a week, all while earning industry certification and high school and or college credit.
