CareerConnect Round Up – September 7, 2017
Welcome back, parents and students! The CareerConnect team is excited to jump into the new school year and to continue to provide access to great programming for our students. GWHS CareerConnect had a successful summer, placing nearly 50 students in CareerLaunch Internships across the city with some of the city’s top employers. Not only did our students have great experiences, but our very own April McMullen was awarded Intern of the Year honors.
Additionally, in a first for our MedConnect program, we enrolled five students to Emily Griffith Technical College to train and become Certified Nursing Assistants. Their state exam is right around the corner, and once the exams are complete, we look forward to many of them being employed in a local hospital or facility.
Lastly, I wanted to take the opportunity to celebrate BusinessConnect Senior, Tyla Bryant. Ms. Bryant is an incredibly talented student who has made a video about what her several years participating in CareerConnect have meant to her. Enjoy her video HERE, and encourage your child to learn more about the amazing opportunities available to them to help achieve college and career success.
