American Sign Language Club

MISSION STATEMENT
ASL Club members share an interest in sign language, and work together to sharpen their skills, whether they’re beginners or established speakers. Our students hope to improve their fluency in ASL through collaboration and practice in a supportive environment.

MISSION STATEMENT

MISSION STATEMENT

MISSION STATEMENT
The GWHS Book Club helps students connect both with stories and with each other. We celebrate our members’ ideas and perspectives, and engage in thoughtful conversation from diverse viewpoints to grow as readers, scholars, and members of the GW community.

JROTC Honor Platoon

MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of JROTC is to motivate young people to be better citizens. Members of the JROTC Honor Platoon are a select group, chosen for membership because of their high academic achievement, service to school and community, and overall potential to reflect a favorable image of the George Washington High School and the JROTC program.

Library Teen Advisory

MISSION STATEMENT
The GW Library hosts events for students and community members throughout the school year, and the Library Teen Advisory Board (TAB) helps all of them come together. TAB members work with GW Library staff to plan author visits, game nights, open mics, and more, and get behind-the-scenes experience with every stage of organizing a school event.

Makerspace

MISSION STATEMENT
Our mission is to provide a space where Patriots can learn how to work with various modern engineering tools (including CAD software, 3D printers, Wiring Boards, Raspberry Pis, and more) and then create projects of their own design with that knowledge.

Mock Trial

MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the George Washington High School Mock Trial Program is to provide education in life skills, our legal system in trial courts, and good citizenship. Our goals are to:

  • Build and improve personal attributes and life skills (good character and professionalism, critical thinking, persuasive argument and advocacy, public speaking, and teamwork);
  • Provide this educational opportunity to students of diverse abilities, backgrounds, and interests;
  • Enhance understanding of, and appreciation for, the American judicial system at the trial court level;
  • Heighten awareness of current legal and social issues;
  • And have fun doing it!

National Honor Society

MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of National Honor Society is to acknowledge academic excellence among our student members and to support and foster the core values of: Service to school/community; to actively embody upstanding Character; to develop critical Leadership skills; and to demonstrate outstanding Scholarship.

How To Join: The official window for enrollment opens Spring semester – usually mid-April to May. Qualifications for membership include 3.0 unweighted GPA, thoughtful response to application constructed response questions, and a commitment to upholding the core values of Service, Character, Leadership and Scholarship at GWHS. Additionally, student members are required to log 20 hrs. of service time per semester and to attend all monthly meetings.

 

Native American Club

MISSION STATEMENT
The purpose of the Native American Club is to celebrate Native American culture and heritage, current events, and to support through student-led initiative.

MISSION STATEMENT
We are the Green Army! Pep Club is dedicated to increasing school spirit! We are in charge of the Student vs Teacher Basketball game, pack the house games, George Out Day, and Patriot Nation. We are looking for people who have spirit and want to get everyone in the the school involved and showing their GW pride. All grade levels are welcome!

MISSION STATEMENT
Robotics club promotes teamwork and teaches skills necessary to build a competition-grade robot in six weeks. There are a variety of potential areas of focus, including build, design, electrical, programming, multimedia, web design, and business.

MISSION STATEMENT
