GW Hosts Annual Go Green Day to Improve Campus Grounds

GW’s annual Go Green Day went off with a hitch. 55 students and about 25 adults embraced the snow with open arms prepared for digging and gardening. Due to hard work from these volunteers and the GW Grounds Committee, with help from 2U, The Denver Office of Forestry, who donated the trees, and a few firemen, we completed the following projects:

  • Planted 15 trees of different species around the grounds
  • Made over the ‘Leetsdale Wall’ by clearing out the shrubs and weeds
  • Regraded and planted sumac shrubs, which will grow to be beautiful against the stone wall with George’s name
  • Transformed the appearance of the pool wall facing the tennis courts
  • Planted 5 Kentucky Coffee trees, which will grow to 50 feet tall with dramatic branch structure
  • Completed the crusher fines deposits along all the paths in the Community Garden

Thanks again to everyone who braved winter’s last stand and made Go Green Day a success!
