GW Theater Update – Patriot Players Perform at ThesCon
From December 7 through December 9, nearly 40 of GW’s Patriot Players attended the Colorado State Thespian Conference, also known as ThesCon. ThesCon is the second largest conference of high school theatre students in the county, hosting hundreds of student workshops taught by working professionals and college professors in the field. Any student can register to present a monologue, scene, song, dance, or technical design to be judged and critiqued by professionals and college representatives; students can also sign up for improv and technical contests and races. Seniors also have the opportunity to audition for over 50 colleges with a single performance.
Four of our sophomore students participated in individual events. Bri Wolfer performed the song “Wicked Little Town” and received an overall score of Excellent. Morgan Ward and Alexandra Marusich presented their duo scene, performed earlier this year at George’s performing arts showcase, and received a Superior score. Anna Vidergar presented her scenic designs from our fall performance of Romeo and Juliet and also received a Superior score. Superior scores qualify for the national conference in Nebraska this June. Congratulations to all the GW thespians who performed, and good luck to our qualifiers at nationals!
Don’t forget our production of Annie this February.
