On Tuesday May 17th 2016, four George Washington American Indian student volunteers (Tatum, Angelo, Zane, and Nathan) helped honor 27 DPS Native American Student Support Program (NASSP) graduating seniors at a Senior Honoring Celebration hosted by the Denver Indian Center and attended by 150 guests. Student volunteers helped with serving drinks and food to graduates, families, and community members during a three hour event which included a certificate and stole presentation and honor drum song for graduating 2016 DPS Native American seniors. The goal of NASSP is to partner with schools and families to eliminate the disparity in graduation and dropout rates for Native American students and to prepare them for post-secondary education or careers.
