GW’s Precious Blackbear Speaks on DPS Native American Youth Panel
On April 18 and 19, DPS hosted an Equity training entitled ‘Unpacking Institutional Bias and Racism: Connecting with Our Native American Students, Colleagues, and Families.’ GW Sophomore Precious Blackbear joined a Native American Youth Panel and spoke to 300 DPS employees during the two days of training. Precious talked about her challenges growing up, her classroom experiences, and her leadership opportunities both in and out of school. She spoke with confidence and honesty, and had some of her audience in tears. We’re proud to have Precious adding her voice to these vital conversations as the district seeks new ways to help all of its students clear their unique hurdles. Thank you, Precious!
