IBLA Hosts Beginning of the Year Club Celebration
The International Baccalaureate Latino Association (IBLA) is a group formed to “level the academic playing field” for academically motivated Latino students in honors, AP, and IB classes. So far this school year, IBLA has helped students get graphing calculators and laptops, enabling them to do their homework. In addition, IBLA sponsored out of state college visits for 7 seniors and their parents.
On Friday, October 13, 2017, IBLA had a beginning of the year celebration for the club. The aim of this event was to unify both students and parents within IBLA, and to provide information for parents regarding the supports that are offered within the organization. Students and parents had a chance to meet and talk with one another, and the food was amazing! The party had a taquero, with pastel de frutas for desert; according to students who attended, the tacos were bomb with good salsa.
IBLA hosts fundraisers throughout the year to help fund their projects at George. Please keep an eye out for upcoming announcements!
