JROTC Visits Hamilton 8th Graders
On January 15th, eighteen Junior ROTC cadets visited 8th grade classes at Hamilton Middle School to assist in George Washington’s recruiting efforts for next school year. The cadets provided a 45-minute program that included Presentation of the Colors by the Color Guard, a Men’s Drill Team and an Honor Platoon (Women’s Drill team) demonstration. Comments were made by the Cadet Battalion Commander, Giovanni Waldo-Balleza and the Senior Army instructor, LTC (Ret) Russell. Following the demonstrations, the cadets took to the aisles of the auditorium to take questions from the Hamilton students. We learned that 8 other high schools were scheduled to recruit, but that they would have only 10-15 minutes in the lunch room during lunch. We feel very fortunate about our good timing and 45 minutes’ exposure. We have also put in an offer to assist with end-of-school activities in May.
