  • Volunteer With the GW Patriot Pairs Program

    By in Announcements on

Do you love George? Do you love teenagers? Do you want to level the playing field for academic achievement at our school? Would you like to be “in the know” about goings on at the school without embarrassing your own child by just lurking around? If so, sign up to mentor a low income first generation George student next year!

Many George students are trying to navigate high school, prepare for college or a career, and handle the college and scholarship application process without the help of a family member with experience in these skills. If you are a college graduate with patience, persistence, a willingness to help, and one and a half hours a week to spare, you can make a big difference in the future of a GW student by signing up to be a Patriot Pairs Mentoring Program mentor. We will give you the training you need! This is a meaningful volunteer opportunity that will impact you as much as the GW student you work with.

To learn more about the program, and find out more details about your job as a mentor, please click HERE. If you have questions, or if you’d like to sign up, contact Caren Press at carenpress@gmail.com.

  • “Drop By and Sign” for Colorado Public Schools

    By in Announcements on

The Great Schools, Thriving Communities campaign to raise funding for public schools in Colorado needs your signature to get on the ballot! Feel free to “drop by and sign” on the following dates:

Wednesday, May 16 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at 952 Ulster Way in Lowry.
Thursday, May 17 from 2:45pm to 5:30pm in the GW North Lobby.

The only way to raise taxes in the state of Colorado is by voter approval. You must be a registered voter and can only sign the petition once.

This would be a graduated income tax, and 92% of voters would not see an increase in their taxes. It will raise approximately $1.6 billion for Colorado schools. For more information about the initiative, please click HERE.
