What a fantastic couple of weeks our George students are having. Between our boys basketball team playing in the final state championship game, our robotics team being recognized with an Entrepreneurship award at the St. Louis Regional FIRST Tournament, and our speech and debate team heading to the state championship this weekend with more qualifying students than any other team in Colorado, I’m reminded again how truly blessed we are to work with some of the greatest kids in the city of Denver.
As we head into spring break at the end of the month, it is important to remember that when we return, we will be heading straight into spring assessments. I know that there is a temptation to brush off these tests as inconsequential, but we as a school need you to take them seriously. The bulk of our work at George is to improve the quality of instruction for every student in the school. The information we get from state assessments tells us if we were effective in helping you reach your academic growth goals this year. Not only do the results inform the work we do in the classroom and help to shape how our school is run as a whole, but it also provides both the parents and the school with college readiness indicators for each student at George.
Have a joyful and restful spring break and come back focused and fully engaged as we close out this school year.
