Attention, gardeners – the GW School Community Garden has a few plots available for the 2019 season. For a small fee, you will get your own space to grow beautiful veggies and flowers on the GW campus. Our Community Garden is located within the walled area in the South Courtyard, off of Leetsdale. On April 9, all freshmen will take the PSAT 9, sophomores the PSAT 10, and juniors the SAT. Testing room assignments will be posted the week of April 1, and will include dismissal times for each room. Students will need to bring their graphing calculators and a photo ID. Students should consider leaving their backpacks and personal items at home, as they will not be able to visit their lockers after testing due to ongoing testing in other rooms. Lunch will be available in the cafeteria until 1:00pm.
On April 3, all juniors will take the CMAS Science exam, then complete their SAT preadministration activities, where they will bubble in required and optional information. A form explaining the optional information students may complete is available in English HERE, o en español AQUÍ. Students will need to sign this form during their preadministration session if they plan to provide the optional information. Testing room lists will be posted on April 1. Juniors will be done with both activities at noon, and will have time for lunch then. Juniors will return to class for period 7.
The months of April and May bring many important testing events for our students. On Tuesday, April 9, our Freshman will take the PSAT9, our Sophomores will take the PSAT, and our Juniors will take the SAT. In May, our students in AP and IB classes close the assessment season with exams in their respective courses.
All of these exams are important indicators of college readiness for both your child and the school. We want to see all learners at GW perform to the best of their abilities, and we believe that building a positive environment around these assessments can make a significant difference. To do this, we could use your help. We are asking families to help us create a positive environment by donating any of the following:
- Healthy food and snacks that can be given to students before and during the testing
- Prizes (that range in value up to $10) that can be given to the students after enduring some of the longer tests
If you would prefer, we can accept financial donations with the understanding that we will use the money to purchase items to celebrate the efforts of our students. Please use the form HERE to indicate what you would be willing to donate. Thank you for helping us to create an environment in which our students can represent themselves well!
