The GW Native American Experience Through Portraits

On Thursday, March 16, 2017, GW photography students hosted an Artists’ Reception in the Pikes Peak Lobby to present their exhibition, Native American Stories, featuring twenty-two black and white photographs of some of the Native American students attending George. GW photographers took the portraits and collected quotes from their subjects discussing their Indigenous heritage to help raise awareness of George’s Native American student population, and to celebrate the diversity of our community. The reception featured Fry bread, Navajo iced tea, student speeches, and a live drum performance from Gregg Shortman of the Assiniboine and Gros Ventre Tribes.
