GW’s New Principal
May 21, 2015 GWHS

Scott Lessard is an Assistant Principal at George Washington High School and has recently accepted the position of GW’s next Principal. He will be working with Mr. Martinez during the 2015-2016 school year and then move into the Principal position in 2016-2017.

Last week I accepted the offer to serve as GW’s next Principal ” and I am so excited for the work to come.

This past year at George has been some of the most fulfilling time in my 28 years as an educator. This community has embraced the work and challenges set before us, developing creative and innovative measures to support the mission of GW. We are a high school where every student is given the opportunity to succeed and is supported throughout that process.

To support this mission, George must provide a variety of pathways and programs so that every student can connect with their passions. We will continue to expand the Advanced Placement course offerings and strengthen the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. We will also grow new initiatives like the High School of Business and BioMedical Career and Technical Education programs that we are introducing next year.

With all of this growth, compassionate and forward thinking leadership is vital. Mr. Martinez has been instrumental in the positive change at George over the past year. I’ll be spending the 2015-2016 school year working with José to pave the way for a smooth transition” being able to work alongside him and build understanding of his processes and methods is an important part of this process.

Let’s get to work!
