I want to take a minute to update you on the work of One George. In late January we held a community meeting to share the outcomes of the One George strategic planning process. We talked about our collective hopes for the future of GW, and the specific steps we would take to make that vision attainable. Since that meeting, we have been working to prioritize our action items, identifying who would be involved in the implementation, and, in some cases, completing a few of the recommendations.
In April, the Action Committees will be reconvening to hear progress reports from the individuals and groups tasked with carrying out the action items:
INTENTIONAL SCHOOL CULTURE | April 20, 2015 | 4:00pm — 5:30pm
PATRIOT PATHWAYS | April 21, 2015 | 4:00pm — 5:30pm
STUDENT CENTERED LEARNING AND SUPPORTS | April 22, 2015 | 4:00pm — 5:30pm
DISTRIBUTIVE LEADERSHIP | April 23, 2015 | 4:00pm — 5:30pm
On May 12, the Action Committees will report back to the Steering Committee and deliver a final update for the 2014-2015 school year. By the end of May we will have a progress report available on our website for you to read.
This work is complex. With so many constituents and stakeholders, I wanted to make sure that we were communicating with the most important group of all - the students. So we held our first all school assembly in recent memory to share the work of One George with the school. In talking to the other presenters after the assembly, we noted how inspirational it was to stand on the stage and look out at the student community. It reminded us that nurturing the collective force that drives these young adults — all of their energy, intelligence and questioning — is what this work is about.
