AVID Students Compete in Optimist Speech Competition

9th Grade AVID students competed in the Optimist Club annual speech competition. This year’s theme was “Where are my roots of Optimism?” GW AVID students wrote and presented four to five minute speeches, and the top eight were chosen to compete for the local Optimist Club. Sajjad Afrooz, Jose Avalos-Berrospe, Ajanay Ervin, Tanahcey Montgomery, Adrian Paris, Tayon Sessoms, and Yohanes Wondem all represented GW well! Sessoms won 3rd place, Paris won 2nd, and Avolos-Berrospe won 1st place. Please wish Jose and Adrian good luck as they move on the regional Optimist competition in April!
