CareerConnect Round Up – April 4, 2019
Career Coach Mentoring
Students enrolled in our year long mentorship program with United Airlines and Kaiser Permanente celebrated the end of the program with Life After George presentations. This diverse group of students shared their college and career plans to an audience of their mentors, peers, and school stakeholders. It was fascinating to learn how most participants actually changed their career choices based off their participation in the mentorship. We cannot thank our business partners enough for their consistency and engagement with our awesome student body.
Career Launch Internships
More than 30 George Washington CareerConnect students completed a 16 hour job skills training workshop to prepare them for their summer internships across the city with some of the top employers in the business and medical fields. The Career Launch Internship is an amazing opportunity to help students as young as 15 years old engage with industry early and practice valuable skills that will last a lifetime. Practice interviews will take place this week, and placements should be complete by early May.
High School of Business
Students enrolled in our High School of Business Economics classes are preparing for their next round of Showcase Presentations, which will center around innovation and development. Students visited Stanley Marketplace and will be presenting their business proposals for future development at Stanley. Presenters must ensure that their business is inclusive, innovative, and accessible to the entire Stapleton and Aurora communities. If you are interested in providing feedback on student presentations, please RSVP using the form HERE.
