CareerConnect Round Up – October 4, 2017
MedConnect students kicked off their year with the first CareerX event of the school year, hosted by Craig Hospital. During their day at Craig, participants visited a number of different departments to learn about behind-the-scenes functions and possible pathways to degrees and jobs in the hospital. While they explored, students tested out robotic arms, observed a Wheelchair Rugby practice, and met many Olympians who shared their personal stories.
BusinessConnect just finished a busy few weeks after hosting the 2nd Annual Small Group Business Leader Roundtable in the library. Not only did we have twice the number of student participants as last year’s event, but our business partners doubled as well! Students spent a valuable hour learning about the 9 Functions of Business from professionals, an important perspective as they prepare for presentations to elementary students at Denver Green School next week.
Additionally, BusinessConnect 9th graders had the pleasure of visiting the Corporate Offices of American Furniture Warehouse, hosted by CEO Jake Jabs, for an engaging CareerX job exploration trip. The group toured various departments of the successful Colorado furniture company, and Mr. Jabs took time to speak with our business students and share his knowledge. Though there were no tigers on the tour, GWHS is very grateful for American Furniture Warehouse’s partnership.
