CareerConnect Roundup

Learning made real is a guiding principle of what a Career Connect classroom might look like. Recently, in our Med Connect classroom, students had the unique opportunity of learning the art of suturing! During this one day workshop, students were guided through the practice of suturing courtesy of Grand Canyon University using tools and material found in a medical setting. It was fantastic to see our students practicing and explaining how to make a perfect stitch, all by the end of the class!

On Thursday, October 10th, 14 students enrolled in Business Connect launched the 3rd cohort of Career Coach Mentoring with United Airlines! Over the course of the school year, students will be mentored by professionals from different departments across the airline. Our participants will not only get to see what their mentors do professionally, but will gain access and exposure to the training facility, kitchen and flight operations at DIA. By the end of the program, some objectives for participants include: strengthening their ability to build relationships with adults, improving self-advocacy skills, and being able to articulate their plans for life after high school.

We look forward to an exciting year and should you have any questions about our career programming, please email Gideon Geisel at gideon_geisel@dpsk12.org.
