Class of 2018 Prepares for College with GW Senior Boot Camp
Our Seniors are hard at work starting the college application process, and on Wednesday, October 11, over 270 members of the Class of 2018 gathered for George’s Senior Boot Camp. Facilitated by Proud Patriot Parents (P3) and our College and Career Advisors, Senior Boot Camp brought experts from around the building to lead breakout sessions for students, where they discussed admissions requirements, learned about their financial aid options, and workshopped their application essays. After lunch, the Future Center hosted a college application workshop, where students started on the applications themselves, with staff on hand to offer guidance and answer questions. Coordinators focused on action over talk; after months of discussing options with their families and advisors, students started putting their knowledge to use and taking concrete steps forward in their college application processes.
Whether they were sorting through schools to find programs that interested them, drafting their Common App essays, filling out the FAFSA for the first time, or finishing early decision applications to their colleges of choice, all the members of our Senior class made exciting progress today. Thank you to the staff and P3 members who shared their expertise with our students, and congratulations to the Class of 2018 for getting closer than ever to submitting their applications!
