GW Be Inspired Fund Closes In on $50K Goal
In the first full year of fundraising, the GW Be Inspired Fund is nearing its goal of $50,000 set at the beginning of the school year.
“The generosity of GW families is truly inspiring,” says Fund co-chair Leslie Stratton. “We are within $8,000 of this year’s goal and will soon be announcing exciting ways families and students can participate this spring.”
The Be Inspired Fund just completed a mini-campaign selling spirit swag at winter sports events, including small face tattoos, green and white beads, and pompoms. The effort helped raise awareness for the Fund and supported GW sports teams, including Wrestling, Boys’ Basketball, and Girls’ Swimming and Diving.
The new GW Be Inspired Fund provides support for George Washington students in five main areas – classroom enrichment, student assistance and food pantry, teacher/student mini-grants, building improvements and community outreach. The funds are being invested to help enrich the student experience.
Funds have recently been allocated to digital cameras for the school yearbook and newspaper, translation headsets for English language learners, and graphing calculators for students taking standardized tests. This spring, the Be Inspired committee will begin work on a South Courtyard Improvement project. More details about the project will be announced soon.
