GW Chess Club Earns Third Place Chess League Finish
In previous years, competitive chess teams from George participated in the Denver Scholastic Chess League, comprised of high schools throughout the Denver Metro Area, and won the league three times. Although George didn’t have a chess club for a few years, the team is rebuilding this year and next. This year, GW fielded a team comprised almost entirely of freshmen – and with an incredible showing for a group of new players, the GW team finished third out of seven teams in this year’s Denver Scholastic Chess League.
Playing competitive chess successfully requires a combination of knowledge, creativity, and mental toughness. Make sure to congratulate our GW chess players when you next see them!
