Men’s Lacrosse Closes Out Season
May 12, 2016 GWHS

A note from Men’s Lacrosse Coach Mr. Siracusa

Congratulation to the Men’s Lacrosse team on an amazing season! My seniors, you will be missed! Good luck going forward in everything you do! Congratulation to our three players that were All-Conference selections!

  1. Sebastian Mcrimmon -Honorable Mention All-Conference
  2. George Fenton- Honorable Mention All-Conference
  3. Myya Bonner-1st Team All-Conference

Finally, congratulations to Myya Bonner for winning CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE YEAR.

Myya has grown tremendously over the past three years. During our first year together, Myya was difficult to deal with, often with a terrible attitude and the desire to talk back. This boy has turned into a young man right before my eyes. He has taken ownership for his actions and has excelled both on and off the field. As a player, Myya was faced with a difficult task this season of changing his role from a goal scorer to a playmaker. In his 2015 season Myya scored 32 goals and had 9 assists. This season, Myya had 30 goals and 34 assists. To say he accepted his new role is an understatement.

Adversity is something we are faced with often in our conference playing teams like Kent Denver, Regis Jesuit, Colorado Academy, East and Heritage, all of which are top 20 lacrosse programs in the state of Colorado. Competition has only made Myya grow stronger. Often times he’s the last one at practice after the whole team is gone, shooting a bucket of balls or practicing dodging  and catching the bus back home for an hour after that. Myya has turned into an extraordinary player and will excel even further to play at the NCAA Division 1 Level. We are extremely proud of you Myya, keep of the great work!
