Congratulations to all of our students who submitted work for the May 2021 IB assessment session! Even in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, 237 of our students submitted 630 pieces of work that were assessed by IB examiners. Our overall qualifying score rate, where students scored a 4 or higher in order to receive college credit, was 80%. Our diploma earning rate, where students received enough points to earn the diploma, was 76%, up from 74% in 2020.
Each month we will be highlighting an attribute from the Learner Profile. The Learner Profile describes a broad range of human capacities and responsibilities that go beyond academic success. Each characteristic implies a commitment to help all members of the GW community learn to respect themselves, others and the world around them.
The Learner Profile trait for the month of September is:
Inquirers: As inquirers we nurture our curiosity, developing skills for inquiry and research. We know how to learn independently and with others. We learn with enthusiasm and sustain our love of learning throughout life.
Take some time to think about how you are an inquirer in your every day routine: What are you curious about? What makes you enjoy learning new things? How can we continue to build a culture of curiosity?
We also want to showcase our community members who are living the Learner Profile attributes! Take a moment to nominate a GW student and/or staff member that has modeled the characteristics of Inquirer HERE. Learner Profile winners will be showcased in next month’s Patriot Post.
