Patriot Pairs Mentors and Mentees Meet Artist Jordan Casteel

On February 2, some Patriot Pairs mentors and mentees attended a special teen event with Artist Jordan Casteel at the Denver Art Museum.

Jordan Casteel is a 29-year-old Denver Public Schools graduate who has become an internationally recognized rising young artist. She typically paints intimate portraits of friends, lovers, and family members as well as neighbors and strangers in Harlem and New York. Her first solo museum show opened this week at the Denver Art Museum, and the oil paintings that can be seen there include a number of people from the Denver community.

At the teen event, Ms. Casteel was interviewed by several young artists representing Project Voice, Denver School of the Arts, PlatteForum and the Art Students League. The audience also was able to ask questions, and GW freshman Darrion Denzmore asked a great one. After the mentees and mentors met Jordan and got a picture taken with her, we enjoyed the exhibit. Thanks to the Denver Art Museum and Ms. Casteel for hosting us!
