Speech and Debate Takes Top Honors at National Tournament

GW Speech and Debate qualified 23 competitors to the National Speech and Debate Association’s National Tournament, the largest contingency of any high school in the nation. This tournament took place June 17-21 in Dallas. Avery Williams (Class of 2019) placed 4th in Dramatic Interpretation, Tanner Hemmingsen (Class of 2019) placed 8th in Humorous Interpretation and 2nd in Story Telling, McKenna Daly (Class of 2019) was the national champion in Expository Speaking. Additionally GW won a team award, The School of Outstanding Distinction, given to the top 10 schools at the tournament based on overall team performance by all competitors.
