PLANNING FOR RETURN TO IN-PERSON LEARNING
DPS is sending out a communication to all families this evening with important information regarding the planning process for returning to in-person learning. We will follow up with an email tomorrow to detail what these plans mean specifically for the GWHS community. We know you have questions regarding the opportunity to update your learning option (in-person or virtual) this week. We will answer as many of those questions as we can in tomorrow’s communication.

Q1 INCOMPLETE RECOVERY OFFICE HOURS
For students who earned an incomplete during Quarter 1, plan to attend Q1 Incomplete Recovery office hours tomorrow from 12:00pm – 2:00pm. You have until December 15 to make up work from Q1 to receive credit before grades roll to transcript in January.

LAST DAY TO TURN IN Q2 LATE WORK
The last day to turn in late work for Q2 is Friday, December 11. After this date it is up to the teacher if they will accept late work. Late work will not be penalized.

Q2 FINAL EXAM SCHEDULE
Q2 Final Exams will be held on December 16 and 17. December 18 is a teacher workday and there is no school for students. Dates and times are listed below and can also be found on our school calendar.

Period 2 Final | 11:00am – 12:30pm

Thursday, December 17
Period 3 Final | 8:00am – 9:30am

WINTER BREAK AND Q3 START DATE
Winter Break is December 21 – January 4. January 5 will be an asynchronous orientation day for students to be introduced to their new classes and instructors for the spring term and pick up class materials from the school. January 6, 7, and 8 will be virtual live instruction following our regular M/T/Th/F bell schedule.

CHSAA SPORTS SEASON B UPDATE
CHSAA announced that the start date for Season B was going to be delayed due to the rise in COVID-19 cases statewide. THIS LINK will take you to the CHSAA announcement and provides detailed information for the adjusted CHSAA calendar. DPS Athletics is still determining what sports will run during Season B. As soon as we have specific information to share, we will publish it in the Weekly Roundup.

VOTE FOR YOUR FAVORITE GW SHIRT DESIGN
We’ve received some great entries for our first GW 20-21 custom T-shirt design contest! Here are your finalists! Please vote for your favorite by Friday, December 11 by clicking HERE! We will have another contest in the spring, so if you didn’t get a chance to submit your t-shirt design, don’t worry!

SPIRIT WEEK DECEMBER 7-11
Who does it best! Teachers vs. Students Spirit Week is next week. You voted and the days are:

  • Tuesday – Wear your favorite head gear – hats, beanies, headbands, earmuffs, headphones

  • Friday – Patriot Pride Day – Show us your pride, wear green and white!

EBOOKS AVAILABLE FOR STUDENTS
The GWHS library has an awesome resource known as Sora, that allows you to check out ebooks, and audiobooks online. First install the Sora app on your computer, phone, or tablet. Once there you sign in using your DPS username and password. Once you’re signed in, a world of reading opens. Here are some of the Book Club’s favorites:

REGISTER FOR OUR TRIP TO WASHINGTON DC
GW is heading to Washington DC in Spring of 2022 and we want you to join us! Register before December 15th and receive a $500 scholarship towards your cost of attendance. Not only will be see the sights and sounds of our nations capital, but we will also have the opportunity to meet with our Colorado congressional delegation and learn about policy-making and the legislative process that affects people across the country. SENIOR T-SHIRT DESIGN AND SLOGAN – SENIORS
Seniors! This is the last week for you to submit your design and/or shirt idea for the class of 2021 shirts. Submit your ideas HERE. This link was also sent to your Schoology accounts yesterday. A vote for the final design will happen at the end of December.

SENIOR YEARBOOK SUBMISSIONS NOW OPEN – SENIORS
Senior Photos and Baby Dedications for the 2021 Special Edition Yearbook are now open for submissions! All submissions are free and must be received by January 4, 2021. Click HERE to submit and read more about our special edition yearbook.

PROJECT HAVE HOPE FUNDRAISER – SENIORS
Project Have Hope is hosting a fundraiser by taking senior pictures. You can choose from four different park locations, and the price varies from $50 – $100 per session. The money raised from this fundraiser helps two girls in Uganda attend school. For more information, or to schedule a senior photo time, please contact Syila Herrera at 873803@dpsk12.net.

GWHS FOOD PANTRY WINTER BREAK BOXES
The GWHS Food Pantry is offering Winter Break Boxes – they will be distributed to interested families on Wednesday December 16th for both pick-up or delivery.

The food baskets will include choice of ham, beef roast or chicken, vegetable side, potatoes, and a treat, plus extra food for over break. If you are interested in receiving a basket, please fill out THIS FORM.

AFFINITY GROUP: COOKIE EXCHANGE EXTRAVAGANZA
Join us for the Family Culturally Responsive Engagement year-end celebration! Parents and community members have done an amazing job engaging in honest conversations, sharing impactful experiences, and examining how we can create an inclusive culture which promotes excellence in every student. Now it is time to have a little fun and get to know others. The Affinity Groups will meet together on December 16 at 6:00pm for a virtual “cookie” exchange. Please register and share a recipe.
