ASSESSMENT – UNIVERSAL SOCIAL EMOTIONAL SCREENER
As part of our district-wide effort to support the Whole Child, our school will be implementing a universal social and emotional screening for students. Universal social and emotional screening can provide a fair and impartial way of looking at how students are progressing in their social and emotional development. Screenings can also help identify areas where school personnel can improve or adjust our supports. Denver Public Schools currently uses a social and emotional screening questionnaire called the Behavior and Emotional Screening System (BESS). The online tool takes approximately ten minutes to complete and consists of 28 questions for the student to answer. This screener will be delivered to all GWHS students during their Community Learning seminar on Thursday, October 20. If you do NOT want your child to participate, please complete this FORM by Wednesday, October 19.

Elementary students will be paired with a GWHS student, and will join them for a shopping trip on December 10 at Target in Glendale, where Patriots will help their little student select gifts for themselves and their families. Everyone will then return to GWHS to join with their families for a winter celebration with games, food, photos, gift wrapping and more. Each family will also take home a basket complete for a holiday meal.
