ASSESSMENT – PSAT/NMSQT, PSAT 9 AND ACCUPLACER
On Wednesday, October 12, all sophomores and juniors will take the PSAT/NMSQT. There will be no school for freshmen or seniors. On Thursday, October 13, all freshmen will take the PSAT 9, and seniors who need to demonstrate competency will take the Accuplacer (seniors, check your @dpsk12.net email frequently for communication about Accuplacer, should you need to take it). There will be no school for sophomores and juniors. Important reminders:

**Students will receive an email to their @dpsk12.net account just prior to their test day with their room assignment and approximate end times, and testing details.
**Students should plan to arrive at GWHS at 8:30am. Testing room doors close promptly at 9:00am.
**There will be no locker access, so students should bring only no. 2 pencils, a snack/drink, and a graphing calculator (GWHS will provide a calculator for use by students who do not have one).
**Cell phones will need to be powered off and collected by proctors.
**Lunch will be available in the cafeteria immediately after standard testing.

OCTOBER COUNT DAY
Monday, October 3 is our October Count day. This is the day when Colorado Department of Education records our student attendance and budgeting for the school year is allocated. It is vitally important to our school’s financial standing that every student be in-seat all day this day. Help us exceed our 93% annual attendance goal on October 3, and ensure our budget is intact.

RTD MOBILE APP NOW AVAILABLE FOR ELIGIBLE STUDENTS
Students who are eligible for DPS RTD tickets can now download the mobile ticketing app. On Monday, September 26, DPS transportation sent eligible students this flier (multilingual versions here) via SchoolMessenger. The flier went directly to eligible student email address, so students should monitor their email. The email will let eligible students know they can now begin using the app by signing up using their DPS email address. DPS transportation understands adopting the app may take time, so eligible students can still order paper tickets through December 2022 by emailing Sherri Jones. Starting January 2023, all eligible students will be expected to use the mobile app on their smartphone. Questions? Email transportation@dpsk12.org.

STUDENT ATTENDANCE AND TARDIES
For the 2022-2023 school year, our goal is a daily attendance rate of 93%. To best facilitate continuous and effective instruction, especially in light of over two years of interrupted schooling, we ask that families partner with us to ensure students are on time and ready to learn. Of course, if your student is exhibiting any symptoms of illness and/or has tested positive for COVID-19, please keep them at home in accordance with DPS guidance.

When reporting a student absence, please use the following guidelines:

** Call 720-423-8642 or email attendance_georgewashington@dpsk12.org. Leave a message including your student’s full name, grade and reason for their absence.
** To request your student be released early from school, call or email no later than one hour before your requested release time. No early releases will be allowed after 3:20pm.

Additionally, students are required to be in-seat immediately following the end of each lunch period. Students who are not in-seat at these times will be marked tardy. A pattern of tardies after lunch may result in the loss of off-campus lunch privileges for individual students or entire grades.

TU VOZ/YOUR VOICE STUDENT SURVEY
Students, on Monday, September 26 you received an email to your @dpsk12.net account with a personal link to the Tu Voz/Your Voice survey being conducted by Denver Public Schools. DPS encourages you to participate, as this is your opportunity to provide feedback about your experience in school so DPS can understand how to better support students like you. There will be an opportunity to complete the Tu Voz/Your Voice survey during Community Learning on October 6, so be sure to flag your email so you have your survey access available. If you wish to complete your survey earlier, you may (it takes 10 to 15 minutes to complete). The survey closes Sunday, October 9.
