SAFETY – STUDENT ID BADGES REQUIRED FOR ENTRY
To better ensure the safety of our community, starting Monday, November 28 all students will be required to show their student ID badge to the security camera when they press the buzzer for building entry. Students, if you need a new ID badge, please come to the Main Office before school or during lunch only. The replacement fee for a lost ID badge is $5 (there is no replacement fee if you never received your student ID badge).

ASSESSMENT – FALL SEMESTER FINAL EXAMS SCHEDULE
Final exams will be administered Monday, December 12 through Wednesday, December 14. Course competency days (by teacher invitation only, individually scheduled between teachers and students) will be Thursday, December 15 and Friday, December 16. Please see the final exams schedule HERE.

  
SENIORS – SENIOR BABY DEDICATIONS
Families with Class of 2023 students, it’s time to submit your baby dedications to the yearbook! Please use this FORM to submit your dedication. Baby dedications include a photo of your senior as a baby, and a brief quote or message. The deadline for submission is January 31, so be sure to get yours in today!

SENIORS – SENIOR PORTRAIT SUBMISSIONS
Seniors, remember to submit your senior portrait to the yearbook! Click HERE to get started, use code 6598, then go to eshare to submit your portrait. Our portrait code is GW. See the posters around the school, or check out the video tutorial on our school website.

WINTER WONDERLAND DANCE
The Winter Wonderland Dance will be Saturday, January 21 from 7:00 to 10:30pm at GWHS. Guest forms are available now and must be turned in no later than Wednesday, January 18 at 4:00pm. The guest form can be found HERE, on Schoology, or in the Main Office. Tickets are $15 for individuals and $25 for couples, and will be available for purchase through MySchoolBucks Wednesday, January 4 through Friday, January 20. You must pick up your ticket from the Treasurer’s Office no later than Friday, January 20 at lunch to be able to enter the dance.

DRILL AND DRUMLINE
GWHS is proud to announce it is forming a drill and drumline! Practices will be in the Band Room (room 141) from 4:00 to 6:00pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. If you’re interested, plan to attend practice this week. Questions? Email Mr. Middleton

MOCK TRIAL CLUB
If you have ever wondered what a trial is like, or if you think you might like to be a lawyer, come to a Mock Trial meeting. The club is getting ready for a competition in February, and it’s not too late for new members to join! Questions? Come to a meeting Thursday mornings at 9am in room 314 or email Mr. Hildner.

MATH AND PHYSICS TUTORING
Got a problem? We can help you solve it! Come join us for math and physics tutoring in the Success Center every Wednesday during Student Enrichment from 3:10 to 3:50pm. Questions? Contact Coach T. in the Success Center.

DENVER CLUB OF HUMANITIES FOOD DRIVE FOR GWHS FOOD PANTRY
The Denver Club of Humanities at GWHS is hosting a food drive! All donations will be going to the Food Pantry in our school to provide meals for families in our community. Please bring non-perishable food items and leave them in one of the cardboard boxes in the Pike’s Peak or North Lobby. Any donation would be greatly appreciated, and thank you so much for supporting your community! Questions? Contact Denver Club of Humanities.

GWHS FOOD PANTRY AND WINTER BREAK FOOD BOXES/DONATIONS
GWHS is proud to announce its Food Pantry is now open for the 2022-2023 school year! All students and staff are eligible to participate. Each Wednesday, food will be distributed at the Food Pantry (located in room 3 in the sub-basement) from 2:45 to 3:30pm. Family-sized bags for weekend meals are available by signing up in advance, and special distributions will be make for holidays, winter break, etc. Interested in participating, or in volunteering or making a donation? Additionally, the Food Pantry will be distributing its Winter Break Food Boxes on Wednesday, December 14. Sign up by December 12 in the Main Office, through this FORM, or by scanning the QR code seen around school, then pick up your Winter Break Food Box in the Food Pantry (delivery requests can also be made). Are you able to help donate items to our Winter Break Food Boxes? Please sign up HERE, and know you are appreciated!

 

MULTILINGUAL EDUCATION DISTRICTWIDE ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING (MLE/DAC)
Families of multilingual learners are invited to attend the Multilingual Education (MLE) Districtwide Advisory Committee (DAC) meeting on Wednesday, December 14 from 5:00 to 7:00pm at Abraham Lincoln High School. At this in-person meeting, families will learn more about the resources to advocate for their students on the topics of School Choice and Enrollment, as well as ACCESS testing and where to view results. MINI CHEER CAMP
Do you know a young student with a passion for cheer? Register for Mini Cheer Camp! Camp runs Monday, January 30 through Thursday, February 2 from 5:30 to 7:00pm in the GWHS Dance Room and Gym. Participants will learn cheers, tumbling and stunts, take lots of photos with our GWHS cheerleaders, and perform during halftime at the GWHS varsity basketball game on Saturday, February 4!
