A Letter from the Principal

March 22, 2023

Dear George Washington High School Families,

It is a priority for us to keep you informed of safety incidents that affect our community.

News outlets, the Denver Police Department and Denver Public Schools are reporting an incident involving staff members who were shot this morning outside East High School.

At this time, DPS has asked that we continue our regular school day schedule in an effort to support our students by maintaining a sense of normalcy and security. Our GWHS mental health team has gone to East High School; however, our teachers and staff remain at GWHS as safe adults for any students experiencing trauma.

We will be sure to keep you updated with any information we receive from DPS regarding this incident.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Denver Police Department at 720-913-7867. If you or your child are aware of threats in the community or at school, you can report it to the school immediately or make an anonymous report at www.safe2tell.org, or call Safe 2 Tell at 1-877-542-7233.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to school leadership if you have any questions or concerns.

Respectfully,

Dr. Dackri Davis
Principal | George Washington High School
