CITY YEAR AFTER SCHOOL TUTORING
City Year is hosting after school games and tutoring this week! City Year will be available in room 317 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays for homework help, Wii Sports games, and more. You must bring a completed permission slip to participate; you can get one here in SPANISH or ENGLISH, or visit Coach Folger in room 317.

AVID CHOCOLATE FUNDRAISER
World’s Finest Chocolate bars are available for the low price of $1 each, in room 128! If you are interested in buying a bar – or a box of bars! – please stop by room 128 during passing periods, before school, after school or at lunch. A QR code for payment is available HERE; you can also use this to donate directly to AVID. The money is used to support AVID students with college field trips, leadership opportunities, and other student needs. We truly appreciate all the support!

THE UNBOOK CLUB
Do you LOVE books about the power of positive thinking? If the answer is “no,” then you should come to the first meeting of the Unbook Club on Wednesday, March 6 in the Library at 3:30pm, because we will be reading an extremely negative book! “The Antidote: Happiness for People Who Can’t Stand Positive Thinking” by Oliver Burkeman unpacks the harms of the self-help industry and why toxic positivity movements have largely failed. The Unbook Club is a nontraditional book club where we explore the world of non-fiction on a wide range of topics including psychology, culture, technology, and more. The name of the club refers to the unique feature of the book club that you do NOT need to read the book prior or after attending; we will summarize the main points of the book that we will be discussing during our meeting via excerpts from the book, video clips of interviews with the author, or through dialogue. We typically meet on the first Wednesday of the month during Student Enrichment; refreshments will be served.

TRAVEL TO PERU – SUMMER 2025
Big news, GWHS families: your student has the opportunity to travel to Peru in June 2025! Ms. Stein-Shevell will be going over all the details in an info session on Tuesday, March 12 from 5:30 to 6:30pm in the GWHS Library. Travel is so much more than just planes and trains! Your child will gain new perspectives, develop a sense of independence, and build skills for the future through this experience. Please click HERE to register for the meeting and save your seat. There are limited spots on this trip, so we would love to have you attend this meeting to learn more about this exciting opportunity!

To apply to participate, complete this form. Round 1: Submit your pitches by developing a two-minute video pitch and one-paragraph description of your business or design idea. All pitches must be submitted via the form. Submissions are due by Friday, March 8. For more info, check out this FLYER.

SUMMER CONCURRENT ENROLLMENT
Are you interested in taking college classes over the summer? These summer options provide students the opportunity to take college classes and earn both high school and college credits at no cost! URGENT NEED FOR GWHS FOOD PANTRY DONATIONS
With our school consistently receiving newcomer students, our GWHS Food Pantry has seen food assistance needs increase exponentially. Typically, each week our Food Pantry would have ten or fewer students visit; last week, we had over forty-five, and we have seen need increase week over week. If you are able to help, please consider making a monetary, tax-deductible donation HERE, or a donation of food or hygiene items HERE (milk, frozen ground beef, chicken or tilapia are especially needed). Questions? Contact Ms. Locks. Thank you for supporting our community in its time of need!
