SAFETY – STUDENT ID BADGES REQUIRED FOR ENTRY
To better ensure the safety of our community, starting Monday, November 28 all students will be required to show their student ID badge to the security camera when they press the buzzer for building entry. Students, if you need a new ID badge, please come to the Main Office before school or during lunch only. The replacement fee for a lost ID badge is $5 (there is no replacement fee if you never received your student ID badge).
ASSESSMENT – FALL SEMESTER FINAL EXAMS SCHEDULE
Final exams will be administered Monday, December 12 through Wednesday, December 14. Course competency days will be Thursday, December 15 and Friday, December 16. Please see the final exam schedule HERE.
ASSESSMENT – PSAT/NMSQT AND PSAT 9 SCORE RELEASE DATES
Sophomores and juniors who took the PSAT/NMSQT on October 12 should expect their scores to be released on Monday, December 5. Freshmen who took the PSAT 9 on October 13 should expect their scores to be released the week starting Monday, December 5. All students will receive an email directly from College Board once their scores are available in their student account. Scores are released only through student College Board accounts. If you don’t have a College Board account, click HERE and create one today to receive your scores!
As a reminder, all freshmen will take PSAT 9, all sophomores will take PSAT 10, and all juniors will take the SAT in April 2023. These assessments are mandated by the State of Colorado, and schools are required to ensure their entire population is tested. Please make plans now to ensure your student is on time and prepared for out testing days. Schools are rated based on the number of students who participate in testing, and GWHS needs your help to retain its “green” performance rating!

SUPPORT GWHS THROUGH COLORADO GIVES DAY
GWHS is participating in Colorado Gives Day! If you make a donation to your favorite participating club or program, it will receive your donation AND a share of the Colorado Gives Day Incentive Fund. To donate, click HERE then select the program you would like to support. Help GWHS students thrive by participating today!
Want to donate, but not sure where to allocate your money? Check out these two amazing activities:
AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is a college-prep program for students who want to attend college but are facing some challenges. AVID students may be the first in their families to go to college, they may be living in a difficult situation, or they may need additional academic supports to push themselves in higher-level classes, such as AP or IB courses. Students in AVID receive the chance to go on several college visits in order to explore which college will be their best fit. They also enjoy the opportunity to hear guest speakers talk about different professions or internships, as well as many other wraparound supports. Donations go to helping support these opportunities, as well as help with supplies for students who cannot afford them, such as graphing calculators, AP and IB testing fees, and much more.
ACE School Store is a brand new adventure for GWHS students in the ACE program! ACE (Alternative Cooperative Education) is designed to give students with disabilities an opportunity to learn career and life skills that will support them during high school and beyond graduation. Our new school store is run by our ACE program students, offering them real-time practice with peers and staff in customer service, operations, and marketing! Our students handle every aspect of our business: ordering and designing product, organizing inventory and our point of sale system, interacting with customers, and analyzing our data reports. Any donated funds would be used to keep our school store running smoothly. Donations will help buy product, or go towards purchasing special, unique apparel that our students will wear as part of our program. Research shows that providing students with experiential learning increases their likelihood of graduation. We are providing exactly that with our school store!
DOUGHNUTS WITH DR. DAVIS
Parents, guardians and community members, please join our principal, Dr. Davis, on Wednesday, December 7 from 9:00 to 9:30am in the GWHS Community Room for doughnuts and conversation. Dr. Davis will be hosting a “Doughnuts with Dr. Davis” event the first Wednesday of every month, so watch future Weekly Roundup issues for reminders about upcoming dates. Dr. Davis would love to take your questions, engage in conversation, and listen to your ideas during this casual event.

This year, GWHS is hosting our first annual “Shop With A Patriot Day”! We are partnering with feeder elementary schools to help families in need during the holidays. Elementary students will be paired with a GWHS student, and will join them for a shopping trip on December 10 at Target in Glendale, where Patriots will help their little student select gifts for themselves and their families. Everyone will then return to GWHS to join with their families for a winter celebration with games, food, photos, gift wrapping and more. Each family will also take home a basket complete for a holiday meal.
