COMPLETE THE “YOU BENEFIT!” FORM FOR HEALTHY FREE MEALS AND MORE!
All students in DPS will have access to free healthy, nutritious school meals beginning in the 2023-24 school year thanks to the Healthy School Meals for All program approved by Colorado voters! While meals will be provided for free to all DPS students through Healthy School Meals for All, families will still need to complete a form to ensure DPS gets full access to available federal funding.

What this means for families:

  • Please continue to fill out the You Benefit! form (formerly referred to as the Meals Application). We ask all DPS families to please complete the You Benefit! form during registration for the 2023-24 school year. By completing the form, you will help us access all available funds to cover the cost of meals, and other nutritional programs for students.
  • Families who fill out the You Benefit! form may qualify to receive discounted school fees, class materials, bus passes, utilities support and more!
  • All household income information provided through this form is strictly confidential and protected by law. Only one form is required for all children in the household. Immigration, migrant, citizenship or refugee status is not required when completing the form.

Learn more about the Healthy School Meals for All program in a short video in English and Spanishthis flier (Spanish is on page 2), or by visiting the Healthy School Meals for All website. If you have questions about completing the You Benefit! form, please contact the DPS Food & Nutrition Services department by calling 720-423-5600 or emailing the foodservices@dpsk12.org inbox.

MONDAYS ARE COLLEGE AND CAREER GEAR DAY
Every Monday of the 2023-2024 school year, wear your gear that represents your post-high school plans! This can be anything from a college sweatshirt to a mechanic’s worksuit – be creative and represent your goals!

SENIORS – FINANCIAL AID (FAFSA AND CASFA) UPDATE
ALL seniors are strongly encouraged to complete a financial aid application, either the FAFSA (US citizens, permanent residents and eligible non-citizens), or the CASFA (any student not eligible for federal financial aid). If you’re not sure which application you will complete, stop by the Future Center for help. Completion of a financial aid application is the number one way students fund their college education (trade/technical college, community college, and four-year colleges and universities). The 2024-2025 FAFSA and CASFA will open by December 31, 2023. Please click HERE for step-by-step information to help you prepare to submit your financial aid application come January. There are TWO action items that are required for completion before you will be able to submit the FAFSA/CASFA:
  1. Gather all relevant 2022 federal tax documents from your parent/guardian, and
  2. Create a StudentAid.Gov account (FSA ID) and SAVE your username, password, and back-up code.
Please note that StudentAid.Gov accounts (FSA ID) MUST be created at least three days prior to submitting the FAFSA. See the attached PDFs for help with creating accounts for FAFSA and CASFA.

SENIORS – FINANCIAL AID WORKSHOP
The DSF Future Center at GWHS will be hosting a Financial Aid Workshop from 3:00 to 7:00pm on Wednesday, January 24. Students will pre-register for a one-hour time slot where they will meet one-on-one with a financial aid expert to complete their financial aid application (either FAFSA or CASFA). Sign-ups will open at the beginning of January. Please note: both students and parent(s)/guardian(s) MUST have a StudentAid.Gov (FAFSA) account created at least three days prior completion of the FAFSA. It is extremely important that you take care of this as soon as possible to avoid any delays or complications with financial aid completion and submission. Questions? Contact Ms. Minturn.

DOUGHNUTS WITH DR. DAVIS
Parents, guardians and community members, please join our principal, Dr. Davis, on Wednesday, December 13 from 8:00 to 8:30am in the GWHS Community Room for doughnuts and conversation. Dr. Davis will be hosting a “Doughnuts with Dr. Davis” event the second Wednesday of every month, so watch future Weekly Roundup issues for reminders about upcoming dates. Dr. Davis would love to take your questions, engage in conversation, and listen to your ideas during this casual event.
