ASSESSMENT – STUDENT PERCEPTION SURVEY
Students, if you did not complete your Student Perception Survey during Community Learning on November 3, please check your @dpsk12.net email for an email titled “Complete Student Perception Survey.” You have until November 14 to provide feedback about two of your teachers that will help them make your classroom experience even better. Each survey only takes around 10 minutes, so be sure to complete them today!

SENIORS – SENIOR PORTRAIT SUBMISSIONS
Seniors, remember to submit your senior portrait to the yearbook! Click HERE to get started, use code 6598, then go to eshare to submit your portrait. Our portrait code is GW. See the posters around the school, or check out the video tutorial on our school website.

YEARBOOK NAME CHANGE REQUEST FORM
The GWHS yearbook staff wants you to feel seen, valued and accurately represented. If you prefer a different name and/or pronoun than is listed in Infinite Campus, please click HERE for a QR code linked to a form that lets yearbook staff know how you would like to be identified in our 2022-2023 yearbook. If your name in Infinite Campus is correct, there is no need to fill out this form. Our yearbook is already in production, so please complete this form by Monday, November 28.

DRILL AND DRUMLINE
GWHS is proud to announce it is forming a drill and drumline! Practices will be in the Band Room (room 141) from 4:00 to 6:00pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. If you’re interested, plan to attend practice this week. Questions? Email Mr. Middleton.

MATH AND PHYSICS TUTORING
Got a problem? We can help you solve it! Come join us for math and physics tutoring in the Success Center every Wednesday during Student Enrichment from 3:10 to 3:50pm. Questions? Contact Coach T. in the Success Center.

AP EXAM REGISTRATION DEADLINE THIS WEEK
AP students, exam registration closes soon! Click HERE to pay for your AP exam(s). Then, check your payment confirmation page and email for join codes you’ll use to order your AP exam(s) at MyAP.CollegeBoard.org. You must complete both steps to finalize your AP exam order (see this LETTER for more info). AP exams are $101 each. A late fee of $10/exam started November 1, and AP exam registration closes Thursday, November 10. Register today to be sure your AP exam is ordered!

IB EXAM REGISTRATION DEADLINE THIS WEEK
Registration for the April/May 2023 IB exam session is now open. Please click HERE to submit your information and select the IB exams you will take this school year. The IB exam registration deadline is Sunday, November 13. Be sure to complete the form in its entirety; if you do not select all the classes in which you will be testing, you will not be registered for all your exams in the IB system.

  • Full Diploma seniors should test in all of their IB courses.
  • Full Diploma juniors are expected to take exams in one-year SL courses only (this includes second year SL Mathematics and SL World Language courses).
  • If you are a student taking an IB course but not participating in the Full Diploma program, please select the classes you are planning to test in.
  • If you are a grade 9 or grade 10 student, you cannot take any IB exams until your junior year.

The fee for each IB exam is $119. Fees will be applied to your MySchoolBucks account once the form is completed.

**For students who qualify for free or reduced lunch, you will need to provide proof of F/RL approval in order to receive the reduced exam fee of $40.
**GWHS is also able to provide assistance due to a financial hardship.
**Financial hardship and FRL information must be submitted by Monday, November 14. Click HERE to apply for the reduced exam fee.

FALL PLAY: “ALICE IN WONDERLAND”
Come share in the magic and wonder of our fall play, “Alice in Wonderland”! Three evening performances are available, running Thursday, November 10 through Saturday, November 12 at 7:00pm. There is also a matinee performance on Saturday, November 12 at 2:00pm. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students. Tickets may be purchased at the door, or HERE. FRIENDS OF IB FOUNDATION: IB INFO SESSION AND FUNDRAISER
The Friends of IB Foundation at GWHS is a nonprofit led by a board of GWHS parent volunteers with a mission to support student success and participation in the IB program. The Foundation works hard to meet the educational funding needs of students (through testing fee subsidies, CAS project supplies, and more) and staff (through Extended Essay coaching stipends).

Please join the Foundation for its 2022-2023 kickoff event on Monday, November 14 from 5:30 to 7:30pm at Eisenhower Chapel in Lowry to learn more about the IB Program at GWHS and the Foundation’s activities. All current and prospective GW IB parents and guardians are invited to come to a presentation about the requirements and benefits of GW IB, meet other GW IB families, and get an overview of the Foundation’s funding priorities. BROTHERS BBQ FUNDRAISER
Join your GWHS community at Brothers BBQ on Monday, November 14 and pick up dinner for your family! For every family meal sold, $10 will be donated to our school. You can visit Brothers BBQ nearest GWHS, or you can pre-order your meal for pickup at GWHS using this FORM. An easy, delicious way to both feed your family and support your school!

GWHS ROBOTICS FUNDRAISER
The GWHS Robotics team 1410 The Kraken is having a fundraiser at Chipotle from 4:00 to 8:00pm on Wednesday, November 16. You can show either the ENGLISH or SPANISH flier to the cashier, or you can order online using the code YWADAWH. Chipotle will donate 33% of the profits back to the team. Thank you for your support!

MULTILINGUAL EDUCATION DISTRICTWIDE ADVISORY COMMITTEE (MLE DAC)
Denver Public Schools is excited to invite all our families of Multilingual Learners to an In-Person Multilingual Education Districtwide Advisory Committee (MLE DAC) meeting on Wednesday, November 16 from 5:00 to 7:00pm at Wyatt Academy (3620 Franklin St, Denver, CO 80205). Childcare and dinner will be provided. WINTER SPORTS PLAYER AND FAMILY MEETING

Our theater department students will be presenting their individual work in a dessert theater showcase on Friday, November 18 at 6:30pm in the GWHS Auditorium. You won’t want to miss this fun night of dancing, singing, acting, and improvisation, not to mention scrumptious desserts! Tickets are only $5 and cover the cost of a dessert treat of your choice. DENVER CLUB OF HUMANITIES FOOD DRIVE FOR GWHS FOOD PANTRY
The Denver Club of Humanities at GWHS is hosting a food drive! All donations will be going to the Food Pantry in our school to provide meals for families in our community. Please bring non-perishable food items and leave them in one of the cardboard boxes in the Pike’s Peak or North Lobby. GWHS FOOD PANTRY NOW OPEN
GWHS is proud to announce its Food Pantry is now open for the 2022-2023 school year! All students and staff are eligible to participate. Each Wednesday, food will be distributed at the Food Pantry (located in room 3 in the sub-basement) from 2:45 to 3:30pm. Family-sized bags for weekend meals are available by signing up in advance, and special distributions will be make for holidays, winter break, etc. Interested in participating, or in volunteering or making a donation? PARENT/TEACHER HOME VISITS
Would you like to participate in a parent/teacher home visit (a “PTHV”) with a GWHS staff member? PTHVs are voluntary appointments designed to build a trusting relationship between equal partners, so that the most important adults in a student’s life can work together to support the student’s learning and growth. If you are interested in participating in a PTHV, please contact Ms. Locks. More information on the PTHV program is available HERE.

SHOP WITH A PATRIOT FUNDRAISER
This year, GWHS is hosting our first annual “Shop With A Patriot Day”! We are partnering with feeder elementary schools to help families in need during the holidays. Elementary students will be paired with a GWHS student, and will join them for a shopping trip on December 10 at Target in Glendale, where Patriots will help their little student select gifts for themselves and their families. Everyone will then return to GWHS to join with their families for a winter celebration with games, food, photos, gift wrapping and more. Each family will also take home a basket complete for a holiday meal.
