SPRING FINAL EXAMS SCHEDULE AND AP/IB EXAMS SCHEDULE
Please find the schedule for final exams HERE, and the schedule for AP and IB exams HERE.
After a student in grade 11 or grade 12 takes an AP or IB exam, they are no longer required to attend any remaining scheduled classes for that course in which they tested. Grade 11 and grade 12 students who do not take the AP or IB exam in their course must continue to attend scheduled classes and take a course final exam (see final exams schedule, above), as will all grade 9 and grade 10 students, regardless of whether they take their AP or IB exam. Earning honors-weight credit for that course is contingent on completion of a final exam. All students who are taking an AP or IB exam will be excused from the rest of their classes on the day of their exam. Students who are not testing must attend all their class that day.
CHROMEBOOK RETURN
This year, Denver Public Schools is requiring all students to return their DPS-issued Chromebooks and chargers at the end of the 2023-2024 school year. Chromebooks must be be clean upon return (e.g., stickers removed). Chromebooks that are not returned by the end of the school year will be locked and/or reported missing by DPS, and a Chromebook and/or charger fee will be added to student’s MySchoolBucks accounts for payment. Chromebook and charger return dates will be:
- Wednesday, May 29 from 1:55 to 3:00pm
- Thursday, May 30 from 11:40am to 12:25pm
- Friday, May 31 from 11:40am to 12:25pm
Students, please work with your teachers to be sure you have your Chromebook for any final exams that require a Chromebook, and plan to return your Chromebook on the date that fits your final exam schedule.
ONLINE REGISTRATION FOR THE 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR
Current DPS families, save time by updating your student’s information online! By completing this process using your Parent Portal account, you can avoid paper forms and save time at the school during the fall return. All SchoolChoice applicants must have an accepted seat prior to registering their student. Select one of the windows available to register your student(s) online for 2024-2025:
- The “Early Bird” window: Monday, May 6 through Friday, May 24
- The regular window: Monday, July 29 through Friday, August 16
To register online, primary legal guardians of current DPS students must have an active DPS Parent Portal account. Visit myportal.dpsk12.org to sign up, or to check that your account is active and ready. With the weather heating up and summer around the corner, we want to provide a reminder of the following DPS Policy: Toys and other devices, including but not limited to orbeez, blasters, water guns or other such facsimiles, are not allowed on DPS property. Anyone violating this policy will be held accountable to consequences.

CITY YEAR AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMMING
Need help with your homework, preparing for state CMAS or P/SAT testing, or creating a success plan? City Year offers after school programming on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, and Thursdays until 5:00pm in room 317. To participate in this free after school program, have your parent or guardian complete a permission slip in ENGLISH or SPANISH, or pick one up in room 317! Questions? Check out this FLYER.
SUMMER INTERNSHIPS
GWHS students can participate in a Business, Technology, or Creative internships this summer through the DPS Launch Program. The internship runs Monday, June 10 through Thursday, July 18, working roughly 20 hours per week. There is a grant incentive of up to $1,500, and students can earn school elective credit. If you are interested in learning more or would like to participate, please fill out this interest FORM.
SUMMER GIRLS BASKETBALL TRYOUTS
Get ready for the GWHS girls basketball team summer tryouts, starting Wednesday, May 1 at 4:30pm on Chauncey Billups Court at GWHS. The goal of tryouts is to prepare incoming freshmen and others who are interested in playing high school basketball for GWHS. To sign up, please email Coach Wallace or scan the QR code in this FLYER.
CHEER TRYOUTS
We are looking for our cheerLEADERS for the 2024-2024 Varsity Cheer Season! Please get your sports physical and come tryout to be a part of our Patriot Varsity Cheer Team. SENIORS – SENIOR LOCK-IN
Seniors, the very first GWHS Senior lock-in will be Friday, May 3 at 8:00pm to Saturday, May 4 at 8:00am in the Chauncey Billups Court! You MUST have a signed waiver (available in the Main Office) and purchase a ticket ($3 at MySchoolBucks) to enter. This event is for GWHS Class of 2024 seniors only.

DOUGHNUTS WITH DR. DAVIS
Parents, guardians and community members, please join our principal, Dr. Davis, on Wednesday, May 15 from 8:00 to 8:30am in the GWHS Community Room for doughnuts and conversation. Dr. Davis would love to take your questions, engage in conversation, and listen to your ideas during this casual event.

LANDSCAPE COMMITTEE UPDATES
- GO GREEN DAY 2024 IS HERE! Join us this Saturday, May 4. This is our biggest event of the year! Come volunteer rain or shine from 8:00am to 1:00pm for this fun-filled annual event, where you’ll plant trees, landscape and enjoy a free t-shirt and pizza lunch! GWHS has over 600 students taking AP and IB exams from Thursday, April 25 through Friday, May 17, and we need your help with proctoring! Sign up HERE to proctor an AP or IB exam. You may select any exam your student is NOT taking. Proctor training is easy, and your support is deeply appreciated!
2024 ONE GEORGE INITIATIVE MEETINGS
Let’s get to work! The 2024 One George Initiative is set to kick off next week, and we need YOU in the room with the GWHS community to move this train forward! The Race to School: Prepare for an immersive exploration into the diverse and unique backgrounds and experiences that comprise our school community. We will dissect the various perspectives and biases inherent in our interactions within and beyond the classroom, with a collective commitment to dismantling these barriers.

SPRING DANCE CONCERT – “GOTTA DANCE”
The GWHS Dance Department, under the direction of Ms. J., presents their Spring Dance Concert “Gotta Dance” Friday, May 3 at 7:00pm and Saturday, May 4 at 1:00pm in the GWHS Auditorium. PERSONAL HYGIENE PRODUCT DRIVE
Over the next two weeks, we will be collecting items to help those struggling to afford hygiene menstrual products. YOU can help by donating period products such as tampons, pads, etc. Please bring any of those items to the bins located in the North Lobby and Pikes Peak Lobby, where they will then be donated to individuals affected by period poverty.
GWHS FOOD PANTRY RESTAURANT NIGHT
Please come out to support your GWHS Food Pantry fundraiser at Red Robin in Aurora on Monday, May 6 all day! We will receive 20% of all sales on dine-in and online orders. Check out these flyers in ENGLISH or SPANISH for more info.
GWHS FOOD PANTRY KRISPY KREME FUNDRAISER
Please support our GWHS staff, students and families with food scarcities who utilize our GWHS Food Pantry, and enjoy some Kirispy Kreme doughnuts! All processed will go towards purchasing items such as but not limited to food, hygiene, school supplies, coats, hats, gloves, etc. Our goal is to sell 100 dozen doughnuts by the end of the school year.
